Parenting Skills for Foster Parents
Being a foster parent can sometimes be scary and challenging and you may not be sure how to help support your foster child's development and behaviour. The sessions will help you as a foster parent/s improve your role to help start a positive journey to parenthood. You will learn how to support your child/ren's emotional and social development. You will have the skills to help your children self-regulate their thoughts, emotions and behaviour, provide a safe and calm environment and teach children about boundaries.
You will learn about attachments, adjustment and loss, how to manage emotions of your own and your child's, how to care for yourself during these hectic years, child development and what behaviour looks like in these years. I will help you understand how to cope when your child misbehaves with a trauma-informed approach.
