Counselling for Carers

People who are carers do important work caring for the people they love.  If you are a carer, counselling will help you manage your stress, anxiety, depression, or grief and loss that may come with your role as a carer.

Counselling can also help you understand the diagnosis of the person you are caring for and how to improve your caring role, help connect you with the community through referrals, provide you information about respite care and help you work towards dealing with day-to-day issues.  Counselling can also help carers who support ageing parents, especially those with dementia.  Sessions can also help you plan for the future and cope with the present moment.

Often carers come with relationship challenges, lack of support from their partner while caring for their children or need to talk about the blurred boundary of becoming a carer for their partner while being their partner.  Counselling will help you work through your challenges.

Other challenges Josephine helps carers work through include family conflict (especially over guardianship and role as carer), fatigue, stress, anxiety, depression, time to care for self, and past trauma that may impact on the role as carer.

You may be able to receive government funded sessions (conditions apply).
